In my professional capacity as a Clinical Psychologist I have extensive experience working in both private and public health settings with adolescents, adults and families facing a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, stress, chronic medical conditions, grief and trauma. In particular, I have a special interest in the impact of trauma or life stressors on the perception of self and how this contributes to problematic coping mechanisms. As a result, she has a special interest in the following areas:
- Eating Disorders
- Emotional Eating
- Body Image
- Obesity and weight management
I have had training and experience in both private practice and Queensland Health and was previously placed at the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital where I gained experience providing psychological interventions to both inpatients and outpatients with both medical and psychological diagnoses. During this time, I had the opportunity of providing psychological support to patients on the waiting list for Bariatric Surgery, and this is where my passion for eating disorders and body image difficulties began.
I have completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Griffith University and her area of research was the impact of various coping styles on Diabetes self-management. My treatment approach integrates a range of evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive therapy
