Dr Wade Jacklin – Clin. Psych

Dr Wade Jacklin – Clin. Psych

As a Clinical Psychologist, I support my clients to move from the suffering that is found ‘below the baseline’ of life satisfaction in the form of psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression. In my capacity as a Executive Coach I support my clients to move ‘beyond the baseline’ of life satisfaction in their pursuit of performance and wellbeing. My clients often have high expectations of themselves and those they entrust with the support of their personal development.

I’m no different from the clients I see with respect to my personal development. I’ve been through both wonderful and difficult experiences that have shaped who I am and how I practice. My greatest mental health challenge has been the management of generalised and performance based anxiety. As a golfer my hands would shake so much in tournament play that I struggled to get the ball on the tee. At University my exam results suffered because of performance anxiety. It is my observation that personal experiences with mental health challenges rarely have no impact on the effectiveness of a therapist. Your experience either confounds or improves your ability. I believe that my experience is an asset as I have learned to effectively manage anxiety and understand how it feels to be highjacked by a negative change in emotional and physiological state.

Our Sessions Are Focused On You
Consultations with me will provide you with the space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals. In feeling safe and comfortable, you’ll be able to gain clarity and be understood and heard. It’s important to me to ensure that the process is collaborative and focus on setting goals and working on reaching them together. There isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.

It helps that I love what I do!
Work for me has always been more of a vocation than a job. I think I could have gained satisfaction in many careers as long as the central focus related to working with people, preferably in a one-to-one context. Working as a Clinical and Coaching Psychologist is rewarding in part because I get to guide and support my clients towards positive changes in their personal and professional lives.
I am committed to helping my clients make progress towards their goals, whatever they might be. I have a deep commitment and felt sense of responsibility to be a positive support, influence and resource to my clients, colleagues, and employees. I believe it is important to bring an energising presence to work every day.

I embrace the following philosophies
– I believe that a worthy objective in life is to continue to strive to make ‘better quality mistakes’
– I believe that survivors are not what happened to them
– I believe that transformation can happen when you ask for help from the right people
– I believe that change is possible when you allow yourself the space to do the work
– I believe that therapy should address the person as a whole – their mind, body, and value based purpose.
